You Have to Actually Knock on Opportunity's Door

I know it's been a while since I've been on . . . apologies. Things have been a bit busy with the new album and all. It's going pretty well, thanks for asking. Let's see what have I learned recently.

Recently Learned Rule #1:
You can't get anything if you don't ask for it.  And trust me it's ok to ask for it.

Recently I've had an album completely funded by fans, gotten one of my songs into a film, had contacts with companies for endorsements, gotten free advertising, been in 3 separate newspapers, been on the radio twice, gotten a ton of gigs including multiple festivals, and just heard that I received and opportunity to be on CBS. How? I just asked. That's it. Just ask.

Many times I've seen artists that take one of two directions other than the whole "asking for it" thing. One type of artist is the one that's too timid to ask. If you don't know, it's ok to ask. Ask the source, ask another artist, ask your friends. . . that's how one learns. Most things aren't innate. The other side of the coin is the artist that expects everything to come to them. You, my friends, are annoying. And many of you wonder why you can't get coverage or grow your fanbase. Only after working your asses off do people actually deserve anything.

I'm going to attempt to keep this updated and blog about new rules that I learn often. I hope this helps someone in the future.
